ODM Announcement

Ohio Medicaid would appreciate your assistance by providing the following information, if applicable, to your providers and/or members.

Ohio Medicaid's third billing guidance document for ICD-10 implementation, entitled ICD-10 TIPS, has been posted to Ohio Medicaid's ICD-10 webpage and can be found under the ICD-10 TIPS (Billing Guidance) section. The third ICD-10 TIPS focuses on ICD-10 usage on dental claims.

If your organization is interested in testing with Ohio Medicaid, please contact your trading partner and/or the Ohio Medicaid testing team at: You may also test with Medicaid Managed Care Plans.

MITS Portal Down 10/10 - 10/14

The MITS portal will soon undergo required maintenance to enhance its systems and networks. Because of this work, MITS will be unavailable from 6:00pm Friday, October 10 until 6:00am Tuesday, October 14. Please refrain from submitting claims and checking eligibility during this time. MITS will be available for use following the completion of this work.


In-Person Training for:
Home and Community Based Waiver Providers

Public Consulting Group, on behalf of the Ohio Department of Medicaid, will be conducting (3) trainings around the State.

Registration is required, deadline is September 30th. Minimum of 10 registered providers are needed per site in order to conduct in-person training at that site.

If you have already participated in a PCG training session via computer or in-person, you are not required to attend one of the above trainings. For questions, please call 1-877-908-1746.


New ICD-10 Compliance Date

The U.S. Department of Health & Human Services released a final rule setting 10-1-2015 as the new ICD-10 compliance date. The rule also requires use of ICD-9 until 9-30-2015. Please prepare now for the conversion. If your organization is interested in testing, please contact your trading partner and/or Ohio Medicaid's testing team by emailing the address listed below:

Mandatory Provider Training

This notice is to inform all providers of services to individuals on an Ohio Department of Medicaid (ODM) home and community-based services waiver of mandatory training on incident management. An "incident" is an alleged, suspected or actual event that is not consistent with the routine care of, and/or service delivery to, an individual enrolled on an ODM waiver. The mandatory training can be viewed here. In addition, upon entering into a Medicaid provider agreement, and annually thereafter, all providers must acknowledge in writing they have reviewed Ohio Administrative Code Rule 5160-45-05 Ohio department of Medicaid (ODM)-administered waiver program: incident management system, which can be found here. Questions may be directed to ODM's contracted Provider Oversight Contractor, Public Consulting Group (PCG) at 1-877-908-1746.

Direct Service Workers needed!

Ohio DSW Initiative is looking for 150-200 Direct Service Workers (DSW) to aid individuals needing assistance in order to participate in activities of daily life. You can enter the qualification testing process by scheduling a test event before May 1, 2014.

Mandatory ICD-10 Codes

Claims for all health care services on or after 10-1-14 and inpatient hospital with date of discharge on or after 10-1-14 must use ICD-10 diagnosis and inpatient procedure codes. Claims that do not use ICD-10 will be denied.

ALERT - TDD Provider Reviews

The Office of Provider Standards and Review (OPSR) will be conducting compliance reviews for Independent TDD waiver providers from September through mid-December 2013. Each Independent TDD provider is required to have a review by 12/19/2013. If you have already had a TDD review conducted by DODD in March/April/May of this year, you do not need to attend any of these additional reviews.

New Provider Oversight Contractor

Ohio recently selected a new provider oversight contractor for providers who deliver services to individuals on the Ohio Home Care Waiver and Transitions Carve-Out Waiver. The organization that was awarded the statewide provider oversight contract is Public Consulting Group Inc. (PCG).
